What is your role and what team do you work on?

Brand manager in APAC, Brand + Creative.

How do you get inspired first thing in the morning?

A cup of black or white coffee triggers my mood or even the gym helps kick off the morning engine — day-to-day things in my room, the outside world from my window, etc.

Event branding for the Singapore office opening soft launch. We wanted to ensure that our brand is strong, amplified, and represents our APAC culture. We planned all of the creative with the events team and guided agencies from digital to video and print to staging.

What makes designing at Red Hat unique?

The people, the team, the brand, and being open. The feeling of togetherness, collaborating across regions, countries, and globally.

How are you incorporating open source principles into your designs or design processes?

We have a very big drive that keeps a library of illustrations and assets available. Curating to suit the needs in each region, our designs are flexible and there is always room to voice improvements and changes within the team.

How do you prioritize collaboration across teams in your design process?

Working cross-collaboration within the team from the start of the project brief until the end, such as Summit to forums and SKO to global brand guides/toolkits.

How do you think diverse voices and perspectives make the design process stronger?

Understanding the needs of various regions and working towards the same goals as one helps us shorten timelines and reduce creating more rounds of designs.

Our goal with the Singapore office was to localize and humanize the graphics because the office is also headquarters for the APAC region and it’s also where the VP’s office is located. We collaborated with various associates from across the globe and worked with leaders and vendors, as well as local artists, to harmonize the brand on multiple levels.

How does your design work contribute to the creation of helpful and accessible experiences?

Producing diverse assets that can be used across all regions helps collaboration.

What does open design mean to you?

Being able to share ideas, collaborate, and voice our differences to build cohesive designs.

Any last thoughts?

I love where I am and working at Red Hat. Even having the team across the globe, I feel connected. A team that helps one another to improve and grow, not only in work, but also in life.
